Colonel (D090), Race 1
This newcomer looks a smart type who could give a big sight on his debut with the application of blinkers in today’s opening event up the Sha Tin straight. He has impressed in all his 23 gallops, including when matched up eight times with a stablemate. Trainer Ricky Yiu even send the New Zealand-bred three-year-old up to Conghua training centre for a change of scenery and the gelding has been looking a marvel in the mornings. Yiu has given him three barriers trials and he’s gone well on each occasion, latest in China. This trainer has an excellent record with his debutants and should be given full respect. Include him in all bet types.
Supreme Patrol (C300), Race 3
Supreme Patrol takes his racing and work well and it’s been no different after his last two gallops. He looked spot-on on Friday and ready to do the job in race three on the all-weather track under the guidance of Neil Callan. Trainer David Ferraris’ stable is finding form at the right time and this fellow can keep the ball rolling from a good gate.
Yoo Yoo King, Race 8
Talking of progression, Tony Millard’s Yoo Yoo King fits that bill too. This son of Gimmethegreenlight continues to go the right way this season. The four-year-old has been showing good finishing speed in all four workouts and his action has been spot on. He looks ready to step up in race 8 over 1400m with no weight on his back and with an important jockey booking (Silvestre de Sousa).
