THE TRACKMAN: Horses to watch at Sha Tin, November 9

The Trackman gives us his horses to watch at Sha Tin

Virtus Star (B395), Race 2.

Virtus Star has improved further with a winning competitive gallop over progressive stablemate Monster Kaka on Monday and from two other pieces on his own. He has been coming to hand well this season and strips fitter since his last-start effort at Happy Valley. He will appreciate the return to the bigger track here. He should be given full respect despite drawing near the river.

Champion’s Way (C061), Race 7

Highly talented Champion’s Way (pictured) is resuming after a leg injury but has been working like a winner. The four-year-old’s fitness has improved with each piece of work. Importantly, his action looked fluent in all of his workouts and he travelled nicely in both trials. Trainer John Size has him ready to win first time out.
Little General (C096), Race 8

Little General is yet to win from ten starts but the blinkers should do the trick this time. He looked sharp out of the turf gates sporting his new head gear on October 31, before topping it off with an easy gallop when matched up with talented Craig’s Star on Wednesday. Both worked to the line well and Little General seems to be coming good now. He is a another who has been dealt a bad gate but must be respected.
