THE TRACKMAN: Horses to watch at Happy Valley, November 5

The Trackman gives us his horses to watch for Wednesday's meeting

What A Legend (C004), Race 1

Blinkers have done What A Legend a world of good and he stretched out nicely on Saturday in the closing stages of a gallop to clock 11.12s for the final 200m. He hit the line well to win a trial with the new head gear applied on October 22, beating Beauty Applause, who franked the trial form on Sunday. He has been costly this season but had few excuses in both starts. With a change of scenery to the Valley, blinkers and a good gate, you could see a different horse in tonight’s opener over 1,200m.

Simply Fluke

Simply Fluke (C352), Mehboob (C239), Race 3

Simply Fluke can be a handful in the mornings as he tends to pull and wants to burn himself in gallops but he was much calmer on Monday, stretching out powerfully to clock 11.26s for the final 200m split. His trial win at the Valley over 1,200m on October 18 confirms he has improved from his resuming run at this course and distance on September 29. Another who has progressed well is Mehboob with a series of gentle workouts since last run at this course over 1,000m. Include them both in all bet types in race 3 over 1,200m.

Yoo Yoo King (C399), Race 9

Yoo Yoo King showed a lethal turn of foot to finished third over this course and distance (1,200m) last time out following some good work and he has continued that mode with good work, quickening nicely to beat Winning Ways (200: 10.88) last Monday and four solos. Trainer Tony Millard has him looking in good order and is ready to win in race 9.
